Consistent In Patient Safety & Quality Measures
Shellharbour City General Practice is a mixed billing Practice as of 31/10/22 - We offer bulk billing for health care/Pension card holders and children under the age 16 years old. If you are not registered with Medicare there will be a consult fee ($50.00 for a Level B/ $80 for a Level C) plus any additional costs for treatment that may also have a Medicare charge. Some consultations are not covered by Medicare e.g. medicals or Integrative Medicine. Please ask reception for fees involved. Workers compensation, Third Party and Public Liability cases will be billed to the Insurer. If your claim is rejected or you fail to lodge paperwork, the account becomes your responsibility.
We are not currently accepting new patients.
Managing Your
Personal Records
Medical records are kept strictly confidential. It is the Practice policy to ensure that only authorized staff have access to records. Records are stored in the computer for security reasons all files are backed up daily, weekly and then monthly. We would like your visits to the practice to be as pleasant as possible. Should you for any reason have a concern or idea then please speak to your doctor or any of the receptionist staff. Alternatively you may like to write to us. We take concerns, suggestions and complaints seriously and will reply to you with an explanation or how we will address any issue that is raised. If you wish to make an official complaint, your’e entitled to do so by contacting the Health Complaints Commission 180043159.
Reminder Systems
It is our policy to automatically enrol all patients on our reminder system. We do this in an effort to provide better ongoing health for you, our patient. Should you choose to not participate, please inform reception so that an exclusion form can be signed and recorded in your patient file.

Shellharbour City Pharmacy is here for all of your pharmacy needs.This addition to the practice will give you the convenience of being cared for by your GP and a pharmacist operating in one convenient location.
For you, this means you can come in to see your GP and fill any prescriptions you need in one place at the same time as your appointment.

Pathology & Test Results
Most pathology services are bulk billed to Medicare. We do NOT discuss or give any results over the phone. Privacy policy prevents staff from discussing results over the phone. Giving the results in person is the safest medical practice, it allows further discussion of your health issues for which the tests were ordered and avoids confusion. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and ask for your co-operation.Reception will contact patients that require review and all contact or attempts will be documented in the patient file for future reference. Recall patients are strongly advised to attend appointments. If the review is URGENT, the doctor will contact the patient.
Repeat Prescriptions and Referrals.
Most prescriptions provide sufficient medication to last until your condition needs reviewing. Repeat prescriptions are therefore only given during consultation when the doctor is able to determine your need for continued mediation.Referral letters are only written before your appointment with a specialist. If you receive continued care with your specialist, please check with their receptionist whether you will require a further referral letter. An appointment is required before this will be given. No telephone requests for referrals are accepted.
